What kind of worms are these?

These ugly things are on my tomato plants. I can’t find out what they are. I sprayed this afternoon, but it rained, so I am sure I’ll have to do more tomorrow. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get rid of them?

In the garden we husband and children, planted:
Three kinds of tomatoes
Two kinds of peppers
Cantaloupe
White onions
Collard Greens for the lizards
Yellow squash
Zucchini
Watermelon
 
From seeds which aren’t planted yet:
Radishes
Pole Beans
Lettuces (heat tolerant kind)
And this is what we didn’t plant.
